Service Description

What if we told you that you can find a hawk at sea? Or even better what if we took you on a hike and showed you? Don’t expect to see a bird of prey, but instead prepare yourself to see what the ancient Amerindians called a gift from the Gods. This hike takes its name from an iconic offshore rock formation reminiscent of the common Hawksbill Sea Turtle. This adult’s only tour begins with a quick stroll through the Hawksbill Resort property. Hawksbill rock, blue skies, white cotton puff clouds, salted sea air, gentle waves and coarse sands aren’t the only things you’ll see, smell, and hear on this hike! You just might catch an eyeful of bare flesh as Antigua’s lone clothing optional beach is the first stop on this tour. Only the experienced among us can brave this tour, so pick up the pace and listen carefully to your guide as you prepare to scale a seaside cliff. This requires full body strength as you will need to use your hands to find footing and pull yourself up from time to time. On the way up you will encounter the errant cacti or two, but the top of the cliff is populated with lush green foliage. On the other side of the cliff is a bay surrounded on one side by sloping green hills also known as Pinching Beach. This beach is like none you have ever seen. The passage of time and the gradual refinement of the water’s touch have created an abundance of smooth perfectly rounded stones at the sea’s shore. Miles and miles of see through emerald waters are home to schools of sprightly fish and large sea urchins. Wade in shallow pools of water, relax at the bay side or find out what other treasures this beach has in store. The most unique feature of this beach is a natural flat rock bridge that stretches far out into the oceans. For your convenience we have two options for return route. The more advanced hiker may opt to extend the hike, taking a more challenging trail around the side of the hill to return to the original trail. Estimated time of completion for this route is three hours. For those who may wish for a less intensive but equally rewarding route we offer a shorter route to the start point, shaving off an hour on estimated time of completion coming in at approximately two hours in duration. Our Hawksbill trail is ideal for aquatic nature lovers who know how to strike that fine balance between taking the time to stop and breathe in the fresh sea air and push their bodies to new limits.
